The official table

CRS points for every age

IRCC's age points, with and without an accompanying spouse or partner. Points peak from 20 to 29 and reach 0 at 45.

CRS changes on 3 November 2026

From 3 November 2026, Canadian work experience and high-wage job offers are scored in a new Labour Market Integration factor. IRCC's announcement doesn't change age points: this calculator uses the age table, which stays the same. Read what changes on 3 November.

How IRCC counts age

Four rules worth knowing

  1. Points follow your age in the pool

The CRS gives points for your age, and the Ministerial Instructions have no special date for it. Your score is recalculated as your profile changes, so each birthday from 30 lowers it.

  2. The invitation uses the score on the day of the round

IRCC ranks every profile when it holds a draw. What counts is your score on that day, so check your points against the date of the next likely draw, not the day you created the profile.

  3. After an invitation, your profile is locked

IRCC's instructions say a profile is locked once you're invited, and you may have to recalculate your score yourself if something changes before you apply. IRCC publishes no separate rule for a birthday in those 60 days.

  4. The spouse column costs age points

With an accompanying spouse or partner, the top age score is 100 instead of 110. If your partner is a Canadian citizen or PR, or isn't coming, you score in the single column.

Plan around your birthday

Use the dates, don't fight them

  • Enter the pool before your next drop

A profile is valid for 12 months. If your score is close to recent cut-offs, getting it in before a birthday gives you more draws at the higher score. Compare it with the latest draws.

  • Book your French test now

TCF Canada and TEF Canada results take a few weeks. NCLC 7 in French adds more points than most people lose in several birthdays. Check your level with the NCLC converter.

  • Decide who applies

If you have a partner, the younger one often scores more as the principal applicant, but not always. Test both ways in the principal applicant calculator.

  • Look at category draws

French-language category draws are separate rounds for candidates with NCLC 7 in all four skills, with their own cut-offs. Compare them in the French draw tracker and check your options in the category checker.
